Kapahaka

This year our Whanau is participating in kapahaka. Most Kapahaka group starts with a Coral, an Entry followed by a Moteatea, an Action Song,Poi,Haka then an Exit. Kapahaka groups wear beautiful costumes with Maori designs and patterns.

This year we were allowed to choose our own topic. Most of the speeches were related to health. We had 2 students from our class who made it into the finals, that was held at Selwyn Primary. One of the students came 3rd equal, and the other student got a certificate for participation.

Whaea Te Arohanui, She is cool at times and she likes to push us in fitness. She has 2 children and a husband. She has been working at Kaitao for 6 years now. She sometimes likes to be funny and she is clever at Maths and other subjects.Her favourite hobby is eating food. MMMMMM YUMMY KAI !!!!

Noho Marae

On the first day we went to Pukepoto Urupa, there was a beautiful view of the lake. There was a man that came to the Urupa to tell us history about the land. After that we went to the lakefront for lunch. We went for a swim at the aquatic centre. Everybody was having fun. We went back to the Marae and had dinner, the food was yummy!!

Rumaki Whanau

Tena koutou katoa. Our class is made up with 12 year sevens and 14 year eights students. In Rumaki Whanau we develop and learn Te Reo Maori. Our teachers name is Whaea Te Arohanui Waikato. She helps improve in our Reo. She teaches us subjects such as Tikanga-a-iwi, Te Reo Maori and many more, and tries to push our standards.

There are 26 students in our class. We do Maori and english speeches every year. We go to events such as Manu Korero and end of the term trips. At the end of every term our teacher picks 2 people that has good behavior, improves in there fitness and finishes there work gets a voucher to go to the movies.
